Today, I talk to Rick Doblin. Some people say Rick is a “Mensch” and that’s yiddish for a a person of integrity and honour, which I would like to confirm 100%. Rick is the Founder and Executive Director of MAPS (Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies) He received his doctorate in Public Policy from Harvard's Kennedy School of Government, where he wrote his dissertation. He founded MAPS in 1986. A “non-profit research and educational organisation that develops medical, legal, and cultural contexts for people to benefit from the careful uses of psychedelics and marijuana.” Now, after decades of focused, strategic effort, MAPS has achieved securing FDA approval to conduct a Phase III study of a psychedelic drug – in this case MDMA – for treatment-resistant PTSD. I talk to Rick about important “psychedelic” moments in his life and how they shaped him. And why MAPS is actually looking into Europe regarding possible clinics. You can also watch his iconic TED Talk here.
